Plant It Forward Project-2015

posted Feb 21, 2015, 5:14 PM by Lyons Garden
The Lyons Garden Club will continue this spring with the Plant It Forward program begun last fall, to assist Lyons area residents who sustained damage to their flowerbeds from the 2013 flood.  The project will be expanded, due to an exciting collaboration with the Garden to Garden program, sponsored by Martin Acres Gardening Group in Boulder. Plant It Forward Project Coordinator, Anne Marie Mikoni, has been working closely with Garden to Garden leaders Lois LaCroix, Kim Dunning and Nina Andalero. After visiting Lyons and seeing the severe damage to many homes, Lois contacted the Lyons Garden Club last summer to offer assistance to any Lyons or Jamestown resident with flood damage, to help return their flowerbeds to the colorful spaces they were prior to the flood.  The Boulder Garden to Garden group has secured donations from Boulder residents, Boulder nurseries and garden centers, and will supply an assortment of perennials, annuals and shrubs to be delivered to Lyons. The plant distribution event will be held in Lyons on May 30th.

Details of the event will be announced soon on this website and local media. Please reach out to your friends and neighbors who are still in the process of restoring their yards and tell them to attend this special event! If you are interested in more information, you can also contact Anne Marie Mikoni at 303-859-9089, or mikonanne@aol.com. We are very grateful for this very generous offer, and looking forward to another year devoted to "making Lyons beautiful, one flower at a time!"
